Born from Tradition

Ciao! I am Rocco Coluccio Jr., a first-generation Italian American whose family’s roots are here in Calabria — a place that has always lived in my heart as home. I grew up connected to this land through my family’s three generations in the Italian specialty food import business in Brooklyn, NY, surrounded by the flavors, stories, and traditions that shaped who I am.

This experience was created from that deep love and connection — to offer you the chance to discover Calabria the way I have always known it: not simply as a destination, but as a home filled with warmth, passion, and authentic beauty. Together, we will explore the region’s products, culture, traditions, and ways of life through the people who live them every day, all within a family atmosphere that reflects the true spirit of Calabria.

For me, this is about more than food and places. It is about heritage, belonging, and the joy of sharing something deeply personal with others. My hope is that you leave not only having visited Calabria, but having felt its soul — in the food, in the people, and in the moments we share together.

“Buongiorno Reggio was truly a heartfelt tour into the soul of Calabria. I would recommend this tour to everyone interested in exploring life, culture and culinary joy hidden in this less travelled remarkable area of southern Italy. Our guide and tour director, Rocco, provided royal service from the moment we landed in the Reggio airport until he returned us to the ferry landing eight days later. He was, with his partner Paolo, our driver, guide and historian for the region. By the time we separated, they and the family and friends we met in our travels will always hold a place in my heart. The region itself is beautiful! The sea, mountains, forest and rolling hills were lush with exquisite vegetation bursting with color. Our hotel, Altafiumara Resort & Spa, provided a panoramic view of the Strait of Messina as we dined poolside on traditional Italian breakfast treats daily. Our day at the family run farm, Azienda Agricola Vizzari, was clearly one of the highlights of the trip. We walked with the flock, watched the cheese production, and followed with the unique family breakfast of fresh ricotta. We visited a vineyard, salumi factory, and an olive grove sampling the products produced. We even had an opportunity to experience a home cooked meal with Paolo, Selena and their family. No vacation will ever match the experiences I had with Rocco and friends. My grandparents were from Calabria, and this trip brought me back to a time when my own grandma would talk about her home as she cooked in her kitchen in Brooklyn! Treat yourself. Take your family. You will love it!”

“Hi Rocco and Paulo, what a wonderful tour - very different from any tour I have taken of Italy. I have traveled extensively in Italy but never to the Calabria region. It’s absolutely beautiful. Our accommodations at the resort were fantastic - nestled in the hills and overlooking the sea. What could be better. Visiting the factories where salami and Pecorino cheese were manufactured was very interesting. They were unique experiences. But most of all I loved the dinners we had with so many of your friends and families. Everyone was so welcoming and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who would be interested in food, wine and meeting the warm and friendly people of Calabria. Grazie per una vacanza meravigliosa!!”

“Hi Rocco! What a wonderful time we had with you and all of your friends in Calabria! You treated us like royalty, and we couldn’t wait until the next day to see what adventures and food you had in store for us.
